“The camera makes you forget you’re there. It’s not like you are hiding but you forget, you are just looking so much.”
— Annie Leibovitz
I don’t photograph people very often – my focus is nature. Birds, flowers, tangles, bees, and the wonders of God’s creation that catch my eye and my heart. Standing in the middle of a wildflower garden, walking the paths beside them, or sitting in my photo fort there is peace and possibility and time for noticing and learning.
It’s where God teaches me lessons about Himself and me.
Sometimes, the photos I take illustrate those lessons – my testimony of His work in my heart and life.
Grabbing my camera and heading out for an hour or so is a treat – the best one of my day.
“Taking pictures is like tiptoeing into the kitchen late at night and stealing Oreo cookies.”
— Diane Arbus
There are priceless moments like this one – where I woke up a sleeping bee by rubbing her back. It was a tender, beautiful, God-filled moment.
Or this one – where I was drawn to the milkweed and saw the milkweed bug standing on a seed. In the noticing was a lesson.
